Anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and various phobias) are the most common form of psychiatric illness. They can be treated effectively with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and/or pharmacotherapy.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common disorder characterized by recurrent abdominal pain and altered bowel habits, often accompanied by bloating. IBS is classified by its predominant bowel symptom: constipation (IBS-C), diarrhea (IBS-D), mixed type (IBS-M), or unclassified (IBS-U). Since the exact cause of IBS is unknown, the goal of treatment is symptom control. Some over-the-counter (OTC) products and prescription drugs for IBS are listed in Tables 1-4. Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common chronic neurodevelopmental disorder often diagnosed in school-age children that frequently persists into adulthood.Pharmacologic treatment of ADHD has been associated with reduced risks of substance abuse, criminal behavior, unintentional injuries, serious traffic accidents, and all-cause mortality.
